#Xscreensaver ubuntu install
Install this package if you want to use the xscreensaver engine to control screen blanking and launching display modes ('hacks'). This package includes the bare minimum needed to blank and lock your screen. You can change those if you need to lock your screen after a shorter idle time than the default values: XScreenSaver is a modular screen saver and locker for X11, containing more than 200 screen savers. Useful settings here are the "Blank After" and "Lock Screen After" values. If you get 'connection refused' errors when running xscreensaver from gdm, then this probably means that you are having xauth (1) problems. You can configure the settings for this nobody-logged-in state (timeouts, DPMS, etc.) by editing the gdm/.xscreensaver file. Once the install is complete, launch the xscreensaver-demo config util to pick the list of screensavers to run (among other settings). In this situation, the xscreensaver process will be running as user gdm. config / autostart echo " Type = Application Exec = xscreensaver - nosplash Hidden = false NoDisplay = false X - GNOME - Autostart - enabled = true Name = xscreensaver Name = xscreensaver Comment = Comment = " > ~/.config/autostart/sktop screensaver lock - enabled false # Configure xscreensaver as a startup application: mkdir - p ~/.
